My parents had their 50th anniversary party today.
Most of my immediate family are pretty decent.
But my father is even more Freeper than the Freepers. (Except for Bush. He really detests him.)
And my Father's relatives and friends were there. All-white. All-conservative. All-opinionated.
And the band playing was...
Jerry Schneider's band. "And now the (fill in the blank) polka!" :puke:
I have a raging headache, and I was bored out of my skull for hours.
But the food was good.

I'm Agnostic, butI take Communion when I visit my (very Catholic) family when I visit.
The way I see it, it means something to them and all I have to endure is that nasty little cracker...

first of all congrats to your folks, are they the ones who caught that muskey in Townsend? photos?
I can imagine older folks all opinionated, I feel for ya there.
But at the risk of sounding lame, I really dig a good polka now and then:)

No pictures yet of the "minnow" my Dad caught. :-)
And I don't mind a polka now and then either.
But after 5 hours... :puke:
And the "topics of discussion" are...
"Oh look how you've grown!" (I'm 43 now.) "Yeah, my (fill in the blank body part) hurts/stopped working/was operated on..." "Hillary and her socialist pals..." "My (son/grandson) in the (whatever service) is such a hero..." "Mrfhtgskl..." (Drunk relative trying to make a point)
And you wonder why I was happy to get home? :-)

so we've been the whole route of family reunions and weddings WITH Polka music.
I used to enjoy it now and then, but I've learned the wisdom of the saying
"In heaven there are violens; In hell there are acordians."

5. Did you get to fire off some rounds out back? |
|
That's the one thing that makes hanging with the freepers worthwhile.

when I read one of these, I thank god that they are so cool. FDR dems, lifelong good people, union, wacked up at the slightest sign of stupidity or bigotry, pro-gay unions, you name it. They are also very normal. Pretty damned good for WWII people.

They are on their way back home up north.
My Mom gave me some leftovers from yesterday.
Meatballs (about a pound)
Mashed spuds (likewise)
1/3rd of one of the anniversary cakes (Yellow cake with white frosting)
(burp) :-)
