I've come to the conclusion that life is filled with misery and sadness.
With only small moments of true happiness.

Am i a downer? ;)

1. No, you're not a downer.
You're wrong, but you're not a downer.

Life is full of little happy moments if you only open your eyes. Think Amelie....

4. Reminds me of O'Henry's line..
..in "Gift of the Magi:"

There was clearly nothing to do but flop down on the shabby little couch and howl. So Della did it. Which instigates the moral reflection that life is made up of sobs, sniffles, and smiles, with sniffles predominating.

I hope things improve.

7. That's been my experience
I don't really live my life for the experience, more for the benefit of the people around me.

And yet, even though the next few days will be risky for me, I still want to keep living, and am scared to death of dying - again more for my wife Daisy and the pain associated with it.

9. if that is what you believe
then that is what you will be looking for evidence of in your everday experiences and you will probably find some.

my advice would be: don't try to figure out what your "life" is or isn't , there is no fun in that, well unless you think that is fun :D

10. I try not to think that way.
Sometimes, though, I feel the same way. I very much need to be positive and things are very much starting to go as I'd like, but it always seems like for every bit of joy, there's a ton of pain along with it. I'd sure like my piece of the pie (not in the materialistic sense, but in a more emotional sense). I am very blessed in some ways. Extraordinarily cursed in others it seems. :(

Anyhow...

You could take it the other way. Then again, you may be in a rut.

13. Gothic Sponge, perhaps a little Linkin Park is what you need
THEY UNDERSTAND MAH PROBLEMS
---

crawling in my skin
these wounds they will not heal
fear is how I fall
confusing what is real

there's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
consuming/confusing
this lack of self-control I fear is never ending
controlling/I can't seem

to find myself again
my walls are closing in
(without a sense of confidence and I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
so insecure

crawling in my skin
these wounds they will not heal
fear is how I fall
confusing what is real

discomfort, endlessly has pulled itself upon me
distracting/reacting
against my will I stand beside my own reflection
it's haunting how I can't seem...

to find myself again
my walls are closing in
(without a sense of confidence and I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
so insecure

crawling in my skin

14. well you are in good co. the buddha said life is suffering
When I was a child there was so much suffering I thought I had no reason to live but I got older, my health improved, and I have done many wonderful things and had many wonderful experiences I never thought would be open to me. While I respect your point of view, at this time in my life, it seems very distant, like a fading nightmare.

What is "true" happiness? If you're happy, you're happy. Even if you are just being silly and watching a silly TV show or rolling on the floor with your pet.

15. No, you're not a downer
you're a realist. There is always a lot of misery and sadness around. You make your own happiness. The trick is to not let the sadness get you down, to find the goodness in everything. Its all in the mindset.

I could have been born into the bush family.

Instantaneously I perk right up, realizing how lucky I am...:D

...when you look at the night sky, do you see the darkness, or the light?
