Question about Internet monitoring software
Any recommendations for software to monitor kids pc/internet usage? Using "I Am Big Brother" currently, but the kid figured out how to use/disable it.

Any help very much appreciated.

you could use zone alarm also to block programs. Zone alarm with a password is hard to uninstall too. If I remember when I get home from school, there are some programs I have installed on peoples computers that i have fixed for in the past that are excellent from what they tell me.

2. I've been using Starr from Iopus with out trouble for a couple years
It's just monitoring software - no filtering. Apparently they are now called ActMon.

http://www.actmon.com/am/

Spyware dectectors will think it's spyware however.

3. Hmmm. This looks decent.
Do all spyware programs detect it or only certain ones?

6. Adaware detects my older version.
But I dunno about the new one. Also not sure how a kid could disable it, but there probably is a way.

8. I would recommend not using any software...
and simply monitor the kids usage yourself. Password protect the computer, and if using XP Home, make sure that the Administrator Account has password protection, boot the computer and then go into safe mode, press F8 at boot time, and go into safemode, log in as Administrator and then set a password for it. Many of the software used will be an annoyance to you as well. If they had to do a study on breast cancer or many other health related studies, good luck, you'll probably have to disable it anyways. Don't forget to password protect your own user name, and make his account limited, forbid him from using the browser if he wants to play games or something, its under program access and defaults.
