Let's have some wine to go with our cheese
Right now, I'm having Coppola's Merlot. It's my favorite, but I'm always looking for a good recommendation. . .

Any others you'd care to share?

(This is my first post, so please be gentle!)

4. Gruyere works for me!
..and Hershey kisses and Special Dark w/ Merlot. Can sometimes pull it off with a Black Swan Shiraz too!

2. My recommendation is Parmesan cheese
sliced very thin with the Merlot. Also, pears, dark chocolate, and almonds.

Pretty much any Merlot works for me as long as it's not Charles Shaw. That swill gives me an instant headache.

I'll be giving the Coppola's a try next.

6. Poor Chuck
So many of my co-workers are buying him up by the case-load, but I'm with you. I can't do it.

If I can't find a Coppola, I do like Robert Strong, and even Jerry Garcia's stuff is OK in a pinch.

My cousin's a huge Coppola pinot noir fan, and my friend swears by his Cab, but I am a sucker for the Merlot. If you can find it, give it a shot.

3. I just finished my last Beaujolais Nouveau for the season..
.. and let me tell you 2004 was a great year for this wonderful wine. A few wine shops and World Market would maybe have some left if you want to check it out.

Now it's time to crack into some nice VA reds for the winter.

7. I haven't found any of the 2004 BN
but I will definitely hunt for it. My co-worker was telling me about this gem of a shop near the office. It's in a really dicey neighborhood, so I would never have thought to go there, so maybe they'll have some.

Thanks for the tip!

11. I have not seen it yet
but I have heard that it is verrry nice. My local wine shop will order it for me if I buy a case.

Is it case-worthy?

12. I buy it by the case (I get a 10% discount when I do)
I think it's caseworthy.

13. I am going to look into it, then
I have heard many good things about it.

There's a shop just outside of the city that does a 15% discount from time to time, so I will have to see if that counts on cases that you order as opposed to what is in stock.

Thanks for the tip!!!
