I'm watching Band Of Brothers
for the umpteenth million time and it still has not gotten old. Everything about this series is good. Great acting, directing, DVD packaging and so on and so forth.

And I can't help but to get a little weepy during the introduction.

A few observations:

I can't believe the guy who plays Winters is British. He definitely had me convinced.

I wonder if the other NKOTB are jealous of the fact that Donnie Wahlberg has become a damn good (and respected) actor

The guy who played Webster should have been cast as Superman. He looks a lot more like him than the guy they chose.

1. what an incredible series
the best ever? perhaps.

the guy that plays winters is amazing. I think he should be the one to play superman, especially since he can hide his accent. If not him, then the guy who plays Nixon. he'd be great too.

After Winters, Lipton is my favorite character.

2. i love that friggin series...
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 11:58 PM by dionysus
I've seen 'The Breaking Point' episode a million times! Toi and Garnier are great, and Capt Nixon is cool too. There's a picture of him in a book about Easy Company on VE day where he's waking up to a case of booze, he looks just like the guy from Office Space they casted as him.

And, Wahlberg deserves a lot of credit for his role as Lipton! He showed up his bro Marky Mark on that one.

14. Call of Duty is a seperate series
I love MoH!!! I have every game except for the Allied Assault expansion pack. just got Pacific assault and can't wait to play it, the graphics and A.I. blow everything else away. MoH is now focusing on the pacific theater now. They have 4 European theater games and 2 pacific theater games.

19. definitely
the first two are for playstation 1. they're pretty cool, but the graphics kinda suck. Allied Assault is for the computer and it kicks ass! it also as a multiplayer option where you can play online with up to 32 people in a room. That game is so much fun. Frontline and Rising Sun are for playstation 2 and both are awsome. It does take awhile to get used to using the analog sticks for all movement, but once you get used to it, its easy. Haven't played pacific assault for the comp yet. though it's graphics i've seen and they're incredible. The enemy adapts to your tactics forcing you to continually adapt too.

4. Possibly the best WWII depiction ever
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 11:59 PM by Hardhead
I'll never tire of the series. It moves so fast that it takes multiple viewings to catch everything that's going on. Dick Winters is an amazing man, as are many of the men who served with him.

Spears' run across that German-occupied town is simply stunning.

11. After reading Citizen Soldier and the book itself
Dick Winters is a guy I really would really like to meet. He did not enjoy the war. He did what he had to do help his men to survive and once the war is over he went home. There are so many men like him that don't have their stories told.

I have the utmost respect for the WWII generation. There are a lot of people nowadays (especially in my generation) that make it seem like what they did was not a big deal. For all the mistakes that was made in war you can still honestly say the good guys won. You can't say that very often about war (no true good and evil.)

7. have you read the book?
i read the book in about 7th grade before the series came out and just about flipped when i heard about it. ambrose wrote it and it just so amazing because you read it and you're fascinated by it because it's such an intense and enthralling story, and then you realize that everything you just read ACTUALLY HAPPENED...it blows my mind whenever i think about it....

9. I found the book rather sparse
Not nearly as much detail as the series. Ambrose shortchanged Easy Company in the retelling.

16. guy who played Martin is British, too
...and a lot of the others. He starred in "Lock, Stock, and 2 Smoking Barrels".

And yes, I've said before that BoB is probably the best thing I've ever seen on television in 44 years, and there is not one bad performance in the series. My favorite moments were the episode with Blithe, and the later one with Liebgott's reaction to seeing the concentration camp, and Winters' interaction with the German Officer's widow.
