Do you know Larry McMurtry's famous quotation on chicken fried steak?

He writes in an essay that he has just driven across his home state of Texas all the way to I believe Dalhart in the panhandle, and goes into a restaurant and orders a chicken fried steak.

"Only a rank degenerate would drive the length of Texas and not order a chicken fried steak."

6. We had two Furr's here in Las Vegas

Until about 3 or 4 years ago. They couldn't compete with the buffets in the hotels.

I LOVED Furr's. They had all-you-can-eat popcorn shrimp and baked fish fillets that were just tasty as could be. Good thing I just ate recently or I'd be going nuts thinking about it rather than merely waxing nostalgic.
