Name a popular surname that you've somehow missed in your life.
I'll start.

Monroe.

We've had presidents named Monroe, and there was Marilyn Monroe and Earl "The Pearl" Monroe....

But I've never met anyone in my entire life with the last name of "Monroe".

Maybe it's a regional thing?

18. I work in a hospital, and everyone who comes through
this place is named Jones. It's almost comical.

5. I just checked the list of the 100 most popular surnames in the US.
Garbanzo wasn't on it. But neither was Monroe.

10. But Welk is not a popular name.
Somebody well-known had the name "Welk", but the name itself is rare.

17. Well, I named three popular Monroe's off of the top of my head.
And there are many, many cities and counties named Monroe.

Oh, and there's "Bill Monroe" the father of bluegrass music.

But I can only think of one person or place named "Welk".

20. Well, it's a bit different up here in Canada, so we'll put it down to
"regional" differences.

Also, Bill Monroe was born "William Smith". Marilyn also changed her name to Monroe.

15. Same here. Never met anyone named "Bush".
I would remember if I had because I would have tormented them unmercifully.

23. We got a whole bunch up here.
The old German/Scandinavian neighborhood on the Northside is called "Andersonville".

'Course, I suspect that there's about a gazillion Andersons up in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

27. It's weird.....ain't it?
I think it's one of those "showbiz" names that just sounds like it's popular, but in reality, not many people are named "Monroe".

Kinda like "Hudson" or "Gable".....
