Howard Zinn must be quaking in his boots...I give you:
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 11:36 AM by Richardo

Imagine my delight when I unpacked these at the bookstore last night. :eyes:

Yes, two lame RWingnuts have seen fit to rebut the "People's History of the United States" lest we all get too down on America.

My favorite blurb from the cover (paraphrase): "The Marxist nature of Zinn's book is apparent in its title." :wtf:

Now, finally, there is an antidote to this biased approach to our history. Two veteran history professors have written a sweeping, well-researched book that puts the spotlight back on America's role as a beacon of liberty to the rest of the world.

Schweikart and Allen are careful to tell their story straight, from Columbus's voyage to the capture of Saddam Hussein. They do not ignore America's mistakes through the years, but they put them back in their proper perspective. And they conclude that America's place as a world leader derived largely from the virtues of our own leaders— the men and women who cleared the wilderness, abolished slavery, and rid the world of fascism and communism.
:puke:

1. "Columbus discovered America"
"And he did not bring genocide when he arrived, in spite of that pinko leftist crap you've heard" I'm sure that's the kind of tone one could get from that book you unearthed, Richardo. :puke:

8. Reminds me of Franken's point in 'Lies and the Lying Liars etc':
Liberals love America like adults: aware of the flaws, wanting to work on the relationship.

Conservatives love America like a two year old loves its Mommy. Mommy can do no wrong, and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad.

18. Hey pal! Jamestown was the FIRST permanent English settlement
Got it!So that means white men founded this country or at least got here FIRST*

*permanent is because the Pilgrims at Plymouth rock failed miserably and English is because they actually had to avoid the Spanish who controlled the East coast and were as far north as Tennessee at the time they arrived.

Ignore this link it is only crazy talk about the Spanish being in Western North Carolina 20 before even Roanoke island (also failed) from those dangerous loonies at National Geographic.

20. Those Spaniards are a pesky bunch.
And their food is definately much better than those damn Englishsters.

I'll bet what would really piss the fundies off is the fact that Spaniards are part Moorish, which means they are partially descendents of Arabs.

Hold on a second. The Arabs got here first? Holy shite!!!!

21. Oh CRAP!
Good point I had forgotten about that

BREAKING on FOX NEWS-Are white people due reparations? Charles Krautheimer and Fred Barnes will offer their thoughts........

I grew up 20 minutes from Jamestown and that is drilled into your head so often that you start ignoring the first, second, and third parts and only process that it was white men. BTW-those dumb asses could have made a right and headed up into the Bay and had a much easier time of it. It was strictly a business venture too so there was no going back if it didn't work out and John Smith was a MuhF**ker. I saw a great archeology documentary on PBS (liberals) over Thanksgiving. Remarkable.

14. "...rid the world of fascism"
More like "took over the role as chief fascists and rid the world of democracy, an insidious communist plot, if ever there was one, as 'demos' is Greek for 'people'."

"...abolished slavery..."-uh well somewhat anyway. Except for the slaves who make our clothes in other parts of the world.
