Ford Motor Company to Support the Troops |
|
(Dearborn, MI) In a press conference held today, CEO William Ford announced that Ford Motor Company will "support the troops" with a new twist. "Supporting our troops abroad has always been a high priority to the Ford Motor Company family" said Ford. "That is why we are announcing that all current 2005 SUV models from the Ford Motor Company will roll off assembly lines worldwide with the yellow support our troops ribbon already affixed."
Critics of the new marketing ploy are divided on the issue. "While we support the troops currently deployed abroad, the marketing of this support towards the consumer questions the ethics of Ford" said New York State Senator Chuck Schumer.
Meanwhile the office of accounting at Ford Motor Company is expected to see a projected increase of sales by 13% by the recent move. "It makes sense from a business standpoint to show that Ford stands behind the troops and American made products" said Ford.
Ford plans to have new production criteria in place by the end of January.
