I'd like to buy a friend a good bottle of Tequila but other than a not very creative Cuervo Gold, I have no idea what brand to get. Any suggestions for a high quality tequila that can be purchased at most liquor stores?

It's affordable for 100% blue agave. Cuervo is mixed with cane alcohol. http://www.chinacotequila.com/

8. Thanks for the link - I now know enough to pick one intelligently. |

I've always loved tequila - even the bad stuff... I can't wait to try out a few of the premium ones.

He finds Don Patron a little overrated, but still good. Herradurra (sp?) is good. His favorites to date, however, have been Cabo Wabo and Milagro (and both come in beautiful/interesting bottles, which is always nice when gift-giving). They'll probably run you in the $40 range.
