Battlestar Galactica (small spoiler not plot related)
The new Sci-Fi Channel series may be carrying on the great tradition of "Star Trek" and "The Twilight Zone" by interjecting a political depth to its episodes.

A quote from the second or third show:

“There’s a reason why we separate military and the police: one fights the enemy of the State, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the State tend to become the people.”

- Adama

2. BSG has been a pleasant surpise.
Good actors, good storylines, strong female characters (the blond Cylon kinda irritates me, nice eye-candy though) and complex male characters (more than just "hero" types).

One thing: Does Balthar remind anyone of Dr. Bahshir on Deep Space 9? Both the character and the actor? Must be the RD Moore connection...

3. I missed the Bahshir resemblance
I did not see it.

The Balthar character was my favorite from the mini-series. I am looking forward to having a reason to turn on my television.

5. The guy behind Carnivale is behind BSG. Wrote script. Produces. And
he gave director a real free hand.

6. Its sad when a second-rate sci fi show
has a more well-developed sense of freedom & liberty than the people who are actually in charge!

7. Second rate?
The new Battlestar Galactica is the best sci-fi to come along since the original Star Trek. The mini-series rivalled any sci-fi movies made in the last 20 years.

It is not second rate.
