2000 Thread
Post everything you know about the number 2000:

In the Year 2000...

  • Is a sketch on Late Night with Conan O'Brien

  • On August 8, the Confederate submarine H.L. Hunley was raised from the sea. In a tragically ironic twist, four days later the Russian submarine Kursk sinks, and all 118 men aboard perish at sea.

  • Massive voter fraud in Florida and the subsequent illegal (out of jurisdiction, too) appointment of George W. "Whistle-Ass" Bush by the US Supreme Court is one of the darkest moments in American democracy.

  • Bill Clinton became the first sitting President to visit Vietnam.

  • It's the post count, stupid! :P

2. That must've sucked.
Did you find out it closed at midnight prior to midnight? Or were you left SOL for the Newmanium?

Hey, at least if Y2K did happen, and you were stuck outside some jackass's bar... you'd have been able to see all of the cool carnage on the streets before the space monster zombies living in everyone's computers that were unleashed by the Y2K bug came after you too.

3. I thought they would make an exception but nooo!
The whole thing was an adventure. We drove to Chicago for 6 hours, got a flat and had to wait 2 more to get it fixed. Then we went to boys town and got into the wrong club (latino club), our English friend was underage and got kicked out 5 minutes before the countdown lol....so I stayed for it and left right afterward when it was announced the club was about to close in a half hour anyway! So we all hugged outside and went to a hotel to party there. :eyes:
