So why are smileys yellow, anyway?

As far as I can remember, smiley faces (yes, even those that predate the Internets) have been yellow.

So which one of you filthy :hippie:s decided that the smiley face should be yellow? And what kind of trip were you on?

Now, for the racial diversity of smileys (in order of population):

It's obvious to me that the reds are an oppresed minority. In a nation-wide Smileyland poll, 80% of the red population said that they were unhappy somehow: either evilly, teeth-gnashingly, enough to turn to smoking, or FIREBREATHINGLY!!

The blue people are often intellectual types. They - the blue philosophers - ponder the oft-asked question, "What the fuck?". Others are lightbulb manufacturers. All of that hard work (mental + physical) makes them prone to chronic napping. Those that think or work so much as to deprive themselves of sleep become overly paranoid - not paranoid enough to don a tin foil hat, but certainly paranoid enough to crystallize and shake their fears away.

The purple people are the daring experimentalists, always trying new things. Often, their wild and crazy drug-induced trips end in a very, very tough morning. More serious incidents have been known to dislocate jaws.

The green people are very easily excitable. The minority that are not are disgusted by the behavior of their green brethren.

The white people are entertainers - clowns, musicians, that sort of thing.

I have no comments on the disgusting actions of the oppresive yellow people.

Multi-racial people are often cast aside in shame, never accepted by any racial group. This causes one of (or several) several effects: anger, often taken out on the computer; constipation; political pride; monogamous relationships; and wild sex orgies (often attended by one unnamed yellow Supreme Court Justice)

He appears in different makeup, which accounts for the range of colors, but much of his finest work is done bare-faced, without special effects -- 'unplugged', if you will. His natural complexion is yellow.

Sometimes, he seems to appear more than once on the same page. That is trick photography.
