Yet Another Teacher Arrested For Having Sex With Her Students

A teacher at an Orange charter school has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with two students, officials said Wednesday.

Sarah Bench-Salorio, 28, was questioned at Santiago Charter Middle School and the Orange Police Department before she was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of multiple lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and continual sex acts with a child under 14, said police Sgt. Dave Hill.

She is being held on $1-million bail at Orange County Jail and will be arraigned today in Santa Ana.

The unidentified 13-year-old boys were students in Bench-Salorio's English and reading class, police said. Authorities do not know if her alleged relationships with the boys were concurrent, but they lasted several months, Hill said.

Police said the incidents occurred at various times and locations, mostly off campus.

The investigation was launched Monday when one of the boys told his parents about the alleged relationship with his teacher. The parents then called police. Detectives learned of the second boy during their investigation into the first case and said there may be more victims.

stupid! I taught for 32 years and subbed for 4! Never in 36 years did I ever, ever consider such a thing. Must be some damn sick minds in education these days. Either that or some oversexed teachers and students.

A story like this, with a female teacher abusing (yes, abusing) under-age boys, brings out the jokers who make light of it. But I'm sure the response would be different if it had been a male teacher sleeping with girls. Why is that?

Those kids were used. They may have enjoyed it (hell, I would have, at that age), but, legally, they weren't able to give informed consent, so what happened was wrong. They may benefit from the experience, but, equally, it could screw them up. Let's not treat it as a joke, ok?

She taught Sr. High School English, was in her twenties, wore mini-skirts and see-though blouses (this was the late 60s/early 70s). She was messing around with one of the seniors, and I think a lot of people knew it, but she never got "caught".

What's weird is that otherwise, she was a nice (if slightly flakey)person, and a wonderful piano teacher.

I'm a music teacher, and I would never dream of doing such a thing. I have to admit, it would be interesting to see a study of the breakdown by subject taught of teachers who do these things.

I did have a colleague accused of it, though. Don't know what happened.
