Poll question: If you have a snowblower and neighbor doesn't, do you do their walkway? |
|
I woke up this morning dreading having to shovel the walks, but much to my surprise, found that an anonymous neighbor had done them for me.
They must have done them earlier in the evening because there was still about a half-inch covering the walk, but the majority of it was clear.
I can't tell you how much better that made the start of my day to only have to do a light shovel and salt down the front steps.
Do you help out your neighbors with the snow?

In fact, do the entire sidewalk on your block. It will pay dividends, if you need a reason.

I did the driveway of my neighbors to the west of me because they are "snowbirds" and spend the winters in their RV in the warm weather. I also did the sidewalks and driveway of two of my neighbors to the east of me because one was on home hospice care with cancer and the other was a young family with a very, very, very busy schedule (both parents work and three kids in school).
This year?
I'm in cardiac rehab and can't shovel snow or run the blower....I hope somebody returns the favor.....

8. I hope someone helps you out as well |

Are the neighbors aware of your condition? Is there anyone around that can do it since it seems like a lot of them need help?
Hope you're feeling better soon.

I have done some of my neighbor's walkway with a shovel! Snowblowers, ha! What a polluting, noise-making, gas-guzzling luxury!

13. Whenever possible, yes. |

My teenager does it, too. Keeps goodwill (and doesn't hurt his lawn mowing business).
Plus, it's a good thing to do. They would help us if we needed help.

14. I help my cool neighbor...my grumpy old bastard neighbor can do his own... |
|
He bitches nonstop about my trees, my hedges, my lawnmower, etc. Apparently I don't care for my yard to his liking. I happen to take great pride in my yard.
I got married this year...when I told him, he complained about all the out-of-town cars parked in the street. Not a word of congrats, at all.
If he'd keep his piehole shut, minded his own business, and wasn't such a dick, I probably would help him. Being a good neighbor goes both ways.
Always happy to help my neighbors on the other side, though. Frankly, I don't know their politics, but they're such great people that I don't care, I'm happy to help.
