"Cult of Personality" Song.....Great Song, Powerful Message! |
|
Cult of Personality by Living Color
Look in my eyes, what do you see? The Cult of Personality I know your anger, I know your dreams I've been everything you want to be I'm the Cult of Personality Like Mussolini and Kennedy I'm the Cult of Personality Neon lights, a Nobel Prize The mirror speaks, the reflection lies You don't have to follow me Only you can set me free I sell the things you need to be I'm the smiling face on your T.V. I'm the Cult of Personality I exploit you still you love me
I tell you one and one makes three I'm the Cult of Personality Like Joseph Stalin and Gandhi I'm the Cult of Personality
Neon lights, a Nobel Prize A leader speaks, that leader dies You don't have to follow me Only you can set you free
You gave me fortune You gave me fame You me power in your God's name I'm every person you need to be I'm the Cult of Personality

5. As the undoubtedly biggest LC fan on DU... |
|
...let me tell you two things:
1. The band's name is spelled Living Colour, with the British ou.
2. Yes, they rawk. Always have, and still do today. Go pick up their newest CD, Colleideoscope - you won't be disappointed.

Excuse me for spelling it the American way and I didn't know they had a new CD out. I don't know where you're from, but you don't hear much about them anymore - at least not in the music mainstream. I'm going to check out the new CD tonight online and if I like it, I will definitely buy it. I just read some reviws on Amazon.com and people seem to like it a lot.

11. They reformed last year after a 10-year hiatus. |
|
I saw them on their latest tour last year and then they took a break to hit the studio and record the new CD.
No, they're not in "the mainstream" anymore, but who cares? They're still making better music than most, if not all, of the current mainstream...and their power always came from their songwriting, musical chops, and live concerts -- none of which MTV finds very desirable in 2005.
F MTV. Hasn't been relevant in a decade.

14. Cory Glover...great frontman. |
|
I loved Living Colour in the late eighties. Wonder if he's still their frontman.

The only change from the lineup of their first two albums is their bass player, Doug Wimbish, who replaced Muzz Skillings.
No disrespect to Muzz, but Doug is an infinitely better bass player. Addition by subtraction.

Cult of Personality is one of the coolest songs to come out of the 80s. In fact, that whole Vivid album is great. Which Way to America is another fave of mine. Great messages in their songs.
