How quickly some send out the lynch mobs when they get offended.

Not that Obama did the right thing, but that we quickly eat our own... like a greasy doughnut!

Our "own" (that is democrats in congress") eat us. The consistently screw us by wimping out, which I am sure the repugs love. But it makes them (and us) losers. Wimpy, wimpy, wimps - thy name is democrat. No wonder they can't win an election. No one wants to vote for wimps.

11. one of my "whims" ...
one of my "whims" is to recognize the insanity of continuing the insanity in Iraq ...

we are killing our troops, killing innocent Iraqis, bankrupting the U.S. government, alienating the entire world and threatening global peace ...

and silly old me ... i still can't understand why the Democratic Party won't speak out loudly and clearly in opposition to the madness ... and yet, all they seem willing to say is we should bring in other countries ... the Democratic Party is calling for MORE WAR ...

you don't have to agree with me on Iraq but to suggest that those who oppose the party on this critical issue want every whim catered to is a big pile of doggy doo ...

29. If that is truly what you are interested in...
then you have NO cause to be upset with Obama.

This is a snip from a New Yorker article. Look at the text from his 2002 speech if you have any lingering doubts that he was on the right side of this issue from the start.

“I noticed that a lot of people at that rally were wearing buttons saying, ‘War Is Not an Option,’” he said. “And I thought, I don’t agree with that. Sometimes war is an option. The Civil War was worth fighting. World War Two. So I got up and said that, among other things.” What he said, among other things, was “I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars.” Invading and occupying Iraq, he said, would be “a rash war, a war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics.”

31. i made no reference to Obama ...
my comment was directed at the base poster's reference to people needing to have "every whim catered to" just because they complain about some of the horrid policies supported by both the DLC and DNC ...

it was not my intent to make any reference one way or the other about Obama ...

34. You posted on a thread specifically about Obama
that was started in response to people complaining about his perceived lack of bona fides.

Like I said, if you truly care about this issue, you will support a man like Obama who opposed the war from the beginning with rational, reasoned arguments that have aged very well since the time he made them.

you need make no defense of Obama to me ...

i did NOT think this thread was specifically about Obama ... the base post reference Obama, the DNC and the DLC ...

my post was made to object to the base poster's crass criticism of all who oppose anything with a big "D" label on it ...

You may not be picking up on the subtleties on this one.

The poster was mocking those that make such statements. And I agree with him.

40. well, i'm not sure you get it ...
the poster said "What good are any of them If they won't court me and cater to my every whim!"

the "they" he was referring to included Obama but it ALSO INCLUDED the DNC and the DLC ...

both the DNC and the DLC seem to believe this "war" in Iraq is winnable ... for the base poster to suggest that the disdain I have for the DLC specifically is because they "won't cater to my every whim" is total bullshit ... we're not talking about doughnuts here; we're talking about a very serious objection to the DNC and DLC support for a very f*&ked up policy ... i don't give a damn whether they "court me" or not; but to argue that my objections to the insanity of what's going on in Iraq is requiring the DNC and the DLC to "cater to my every whim" is absurd ...

so, if you agree that it is just fine and dandy to mock those of us who say fuck the DLC, then it is you who are indeed missing far more than the subtleties ... i hate the DLC ... how dare they refer to those of us with serious objections to the invasion of Iraq as "in it only because of the nostalgia we felt for the protests of the sixties" ... that's what the DLC had to say about those of us who protested the invasion of Iraq because we didn't believe Iraq was a threat; we didn't believe Saddam had WMD and we didn't believe bush wanted to invade for any reason other than PNAC and big oil ... take a hint, my reasons had nothing to do with nostalgia ... so, in conclusion, let me say "fuck the DLC !!"

41. If that's the discussion you wanted to have, then why
post on thread about Obama, who has been against the war from before the beginning?

And a piece of advice: don't come in and act like you're the only one that cares about the war just because the the rest of us happened to be discussing something else at the moment. Its not pleasant.

42. is this more pleasant ???
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 02:00 AM by welshTerrier2
let's take a look at the title of the base post, shall we ?? it says:
"Fuck Obama! and the DNC! And the DLC! And Dunken Doughnuts!" ... does it only talk about Obama ??? well, does it ???

how many times do you have to be told that this thread included a criticism of those who criticize Obama and the DNC and the DLC ... why do you insist on defining what this thread is about in your own narrow way ??? did you even read the base post?

my response was to the snotty criticism of those who object to any of the three that were mentioned ... if you're obstinate responses are representative of Obama, perhaps I should take a deeper look at him ...

get this straight, my post was very responsive to the base post ... the fact that you have little Obama stars shining in your eyes is probably why you can't see that ...

and one last thing, you can keep your damned advice ... i did not come in here claiming any special ownership of an anti-war position ... where exactly in any of my posts did you get that from? i spoke of this position because many who are deeply critical of the DNC's and DLC's fucked up position on Iraq were belittled in the base post as people who needed to "have every whim catered to" ... the point i was making which apparently is lost on you was that recognizing the tragedy of the war and being critical of a party that doesn't is hardly a requirement of having every whim catered to ...

there, i said it ... is that more pleasant ??
