Ashlee Simpson Booed at Orange Bowl...
NEW YORK - Ashlee Simpson (news)'s Orange Bowl (news - web sites) halftime performance was a lemon, according to the 72,000-plus Miami crowd. The 20-year-old singer received a discernible chorus of boos following a performance of her song "La La."

"You make me wanna scream," she sang before the audience jeered.

Simpson was among a trio of halftime performers Tuesday night in a game that saw Southern California overwhelm Oklahoma 55-19. The camera cut away from her face as the booing began.

The negative vocal reaction came months after Simpson's performance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live," which revealed she used background vocal tracks. The mishap was later attributed to acid reflux.

However, the Orange Bowl crowd did have a reason to cheer. The Walt Disney Co. gave a theme park ticket to every fan. The giveaway, a promotion that could cost as much as $4.3 million if all the tickets are used, is in honor of the 50th anniversary of its Disneyland park in California.

The second season of Simpson's unscripted MTV reality show, "The Ashlee Simpson Show," premieres Jan. 26 and will capture the "SNL" appearance and preparation for her first nationwide tour, which begins Feb. 18 at Los Angeles' Universal Amphitheatre.

2. was the performance bad or was the crowd full of moshers?
I have never seen fans boo a major star.
When it comes to music, most people are
dumber than rocks. They like what they are told to like.

6. both
It was a college football crowd, so there's a handicap right there. But she was so awful, she deserved to get booed. Clearly, nobody in her management or entourage tells her she sucks, so it's up to the public.

4. The best line I've read on this...
"...the cameras didn't show a reaction shot, so we are left wondering what the end of a music career looks like."

:)

15. It may be...
But she was the one who decided to lipsync on SNL! And now she decided to sing for once in her life and the whole world got to see how pathetic of a singer she really is! After this event, I am glad that we can finally stick a fork in her lousy career once and for all!

10. Even for Orange Bowls,
that was the most godawful halftime show ever. Also the funniest. The microphones didn't work worth a shit, for which I will be eternally grateful since none of those no-talent hacks were worth listening to in the first place, but it was great watching the rest of the "performers" try to carry on. We definitely need more equipment malfunctions rather than wardrobe malfunctions. We were playing bridge during the game and had to wipe the tears of laughter from our eyes during that abomination.

14. Lovely song title, but there is a bigger issue here:
Her own revisionist history. Of course it's acid reflux, what else could it be? The acid must've jumped out of her gullet in to mess up the karaoke machine's control panel. :eyes:

Oh, and as for "You make me wanna scream", is that an open nod to her, eh, "brothel buddies"?

Image is everything. Obey your thirst. For supposition.
