Had a stroke Sunday, been in the hospital. I'm too tired to weed through
a week's news, so could someone just point me to some of the highlights of this week? I was at the mercy of biased idiot local news and CNN, so I didn't watch the news at all.

I've been going crazy wondering what's been really going on. All I do know is that frigging crazy liar hasn't let go of the money he pledged for the tsunami victims. But I said this before I got hauled into emergency.

You'll have my sincere gratitude if you help me out here.

Thanks.

3. Aside from threads about
supervillain earthquake machines that caused the tsunami, the big news was today about the Ohio contest. Check out GD:politics, wear your asbestos suit.

Hope you're feeling better.

And don't get too worked up too fast about all the Bush craziness you missed -- there'll be plenty more in the months/years to come!

Sorry to hear about your illness. I'll start it off --

Bush shamed into upping U.S. aid to tsunami relief fund to $350 million from initial $15 million. Urged U.S. citizens to personally give, but took his own time pulling out his wallet. Finally gave $10,000. Sandra Bullock gave $1 million.

Today, Sen. Barbara Boxer officially signed on to request by Rep. Stephanie Tubbs-Jones to contest the Ohio electoral vote, thereby forcing a two-hour debate in both Houses. Last time this happened was in the 19th century.

Confirmation hearings for Alberto Gonzales held today. Media consensus seems to be he didn't make the grade in answering questions about his support of U.S. torture policy.

Tucker Carlson cancelled by CNN; producer says (paraphrase) he guesses he comes down on Jon Stewart's side of the road. Robert Novak's show also cancelled by CNN.

11. Glad to have you back.
The election was not officially challenged, but we have some real standouts in the fight. Jury's out on Gonzalez, but our Dems and even a Repub gave him the goods very well.

Take care, and stay the hell out of the GD forums for a while, please!

13. You don't need to hear the news
Seriously----it's getting so depressing and upsetting that I very well understand why you could end up with a stroke. Just know that a lot of other people are as concerned and upset and worrying as much as you are. You are among a lot of people in this country who know what kind of unholy attack we are under by this so-called Christian right. Turn off the tv and get better. I walked away (after 60 years) the day after the election. I read and watched old movies and just came back a few days ago. I would have died if I had kept on going. Go away and stay away for a couple months. Bush isn't going any place so you can get fired up when you are feeling better.

14. Hey sorry to hear that.
Glad you made it okay. There was the challenge in Congress by Barbara Boxer to stop the certification of the electoral college votes in Ohio. I have been a bit scattered myself these last weeks, so I'm sure other DUers will fill you in on the historic developments better than me.

Take care of yourself and I hope you feel better soon.
