I found a puppy today
I live in a rural area and walk my 2 dogs in the woods every day, anyway, Alex my elderly Great Dane heard something that I couldn't hear (I thought it was just senility)..but this little tiny puppy, couldn't be any older than 6 weeks came running out of the brush crying hysterically towards Alex and scared the crap out of him. Then he saw me and ran to me and seemed soooooooo glad to see me.......

I guess someone dumped him there.

He's sleeping now after gorging out.

4. I wonder what happened
A Christmas present that got dumped? Someone stole him and he got away? Poor little one. You're a peach for taking him in. Hope we get some pics of him and your other furry babies.

Me and my 11 y.o. pup are both happy for you and your new addition.

If they get along (your senior Dane and the new pup), it will keep your Dane "thinking young" and become attached/nurturing to the new addition. I hope all works out well and take care to show your Dane as much attention because even dogs (like kids) can get jealous of each other. ... just my best advice/experiences in raising K9s.

Best Wishes ...

a life and made me smile for the first time today. thank you so much.

Were there others? I remember finding four baby birds, three in one group and one trying to keep up. Baby robins. The moment they heard you they stopped, sat and opened their mouths to eat. I fell harder in love at that moment than any other time in my life. :)

11. Another DUer found a small dog she couldn't keep overnight
so I took her in, knowing she had to have a chip. She didn't. That was the beginning of Dec.

Today, I came home from school, and I have to tell you-it was the first time in decades anyone has been THAT EXCITED to see me (she usually goes everywhere).

Enjoy the pup, St moobu2

13. I'm jealous...I wish *I* could find a puppy
My beloved 16-year old dog died in November and our other dog is lonely, so I'm looking, but it has to be just the right mix, since we have a small house.

My husband grew up in a rural area and people were always dropping off Kittens and puppies. So Sad. He and you are lucky.

Have you named him yet. A Good name would be "Lucky"

23. I've found a few abandond puppies out here before...
People put them out here all the time, sometimes 5 and 6 week olds.
I cant see how someone could do that but when I find them I usually fatten them up and put an add in the paper for free puppies and always gave them away within a couple of days.

But Alex is getting so old now and probably wont be around much longer and daisy (my other dog) will need a pal to boss around so I'm probably going to keep this one.

Alex and Daisy aren't to sure what to think, I know they'll all get along soon though.

Lucky him and lucky you. Ahhhhhhh, what a sweetie. A little Rottie maybe? I do not understand people who could dump any animal for any reason. Could he maybe just be lost? Enjoy this little gift.

27. I just cant see how he could be lost
He's so uncoordinated and can even keep up with me walking slow and the place he was, there are no houses anywhere over there...Someone had to dump him, he could have never made it where I found him..
Yeah he looks like a Rottweiler, he could be..He may have been an unwanted X-mas present or something.

30. My other dogs...

Alex is a great Dane and daisy is a "hinze 57" (god only knows what's in her genes) I found daisy about 5 years ago in a cemetery I walked Alex in all the time.. She was 5 or 6 weeks old...Daisy's been a great dog and friend over the years.

Alex is a loner, Stubborn, likes to do what he wants when he wants to. Don't get me wrong he's sweet and he's just like my kid and I love him to death, that's just how he is and just let him be.
Daisy, what can I say, she's been fantastic, couldn't ask for a better dog. She's so close to me and me to her. She'll do anything for me. Where Alex wants to do what he wants to, Daisy wants to do what I want to... I found her half starved to death with 5 other puppies (the litter) at this old cemetery, like I said. 1 of the 5 puppies had died of exposure or starvation. I took the others and doctored them up, fattened them and placed an add in the paper for free puppies. I even gave daisy away but as I interview all the people who came by, I told them if anything didn't work out -to call me and I would go pick up the puppy....well thank God the lady that took daisy called me...She's just been the perfect dog.

I have 4 cats tooo...

31. People like you are amazing!
To take in animals when nobody else will. I would do the same were I in the same situation, and think it's great when people step up to the plate for animals who need a home :)
