Are you addicted to the DU Lounge? Answer these questions |
|
1. Do you sometimes wonder if you spend too much time in the DU Lounge?
2. Do you post in the DU Lounge even when it interferes with your ability to do your job?
3. Do you choose to post in the DU Lounge instead of doing other things you used to enjoy, like spending time with your honey, keeping your job, or paying the rent?
4. Has anybody ever ridiculed you for spending so much time in the DU Lounge?
5. Have you ever ridiculed yourself for spending so much time in the DU Lounge, but you just can't help yourself from going back?
6. Would you rather spend time in the DU Lounge than just about anything else you can think of doing in the whole world?
7. Did you spend more time in the DU Lounge today than in Elections 2004, even though something historical was happening on those other boards?
8. Do you have only the vaguest idea what historical events happened today, because there hasn't been a thread about it yet in the DU Lounge?
If you answered yes to any of these questions then you are perfectly normal and don't have a problem! You can quit anytime! Really.

3. I'm hurt that only two people saw fit to respond to my thread |
|
I feel rejected. Wounded. Resentful. Angry.
I may have a melt-down.

for people to be emotionally attached to their threads. You nuture them, edit them then set them gently on the board hoping they'll skip around happily for awhile (and some lucky ones DO.. for days!) But then your precious sinks off page 1.
You get a stray bounce and your heart soars You! Are! Loved! and Appreciated! for your wit and insight!
Then BOOM! the bottom drops out and your baby sinks like a stone..STUPIDSTUPIDSTUPID noonelikesmei'mamoranstupidstupid.
sigh.... then you start all over again

9. I'll be your friend on DU! |
|
The truth is, usually nobody ever responds to anybody else on DU except as an insult.
The exception is here in the Lounge, where people get responded to in the following ways - (1) numerous copycat threads taunting their original thread or (2) being made the butt of numerous joke threads.
In other words, you are lucky that nobody has responded to you yet!

I wondered what was wrong with me. I don't have enough posts to do a search or add anyone to my buddy list. It keeps saying "This- function-doesn't-work-for-you,-you're-too-new-and-besides-that-we just-plain-think-you're-boring-so-go-away" Thanks for explaining that to me.

11. Just keep posting and you'll start to feel at home. |
|
Visit all the different boards and post on various threads. Eventually you'll be allowed to start a thread.
DU has 60,000 members give or take some thousand so it is easy to feel lost. Don't worry about it. Everybody is treated with respect here. The admins and mods are wonderful and it really is a great board!
