The Cryan' Shames, a sixties band from the Chicago area. I'm listening to them right now. Very well-crafted 60's pop, not lame by any means.

"Sugar and Spice". The Searchers did the British version. My sister-in-law knew them.

3. Might I recommend...
.... a sort of overlooked gem from the Zombies.

"Oracle and Odessey" was recorded in 1967 and has been compared to Sgt Pepper and Pet Sounds.

It went almost unnoticed until Al Kooper got some attention for it in the US for the single "Time of the Season" (which is really an atypical track on the album). It never did much in Britian, and by the time it was successful here the Zombies had called it quits.

It is excellent, well crafted pop music with great songwriting.

Billy says "give it a listen" :)

5. Hey, I just recorded a program, "How Chicago Rocked the '60s,"
on the Suburban Invasion bands: Cryan' Shames, the Buckinghams, the Shadows of Knight, the Ides of March, etc. Very interesting.
