5. I give my dogs beef bones |
|
but the other day I was told never give dogs real bones as they could causes problems with the dogs, they could cause rectal problems. Have you had any problems with this? I give them cooked bones, won't give them uncooked stuff.
They do love the bones when I have pork ribs.

6. Give a dog a bone is a form of cruelty |
|
Never give bones, to dogs. Innocently, the dog may end up with an obstruction and need surgery. Or, the animal may just chew enough bone chips to become very constipated, or to bleed from the rectum. If complications result, your innocent dog suffers, and it is your fault, not the dog's fault.

7. My dogs don't eat meat. |

Never have. Not even if it's offered to them. Oddly enough though, they'll eat just about any other food on the face of the earth.

9. Yes! We get the large smoked bones from the pet stores |
|
When we got our first Golden, we had a trainer come to the house and go over everything we needed to know about the breed. He told us not to give rawhide chews because they will chew off big hunks and swallow them. The pieces can be too big too pass and will sit in the stomach for weeks or months before they break down sometimes causing the dog to under feed.
With the large bones they get calcium from the small pieces they grind on. The best part of it is while they chew they clean their teeth. Our dogs have the whitest teeth around.
