an alert will tell you that a pop-up has been blocked, click on it and you are able to modify the default on that particular site.

That was the default, and I just never changed it. I think some ISP will let you customize your own home page?

In Firefox. That way it's available in tab #1 for a quick search if I need to looks something up. Also, I don't want to miss the topical cartoons they put into the logo occasionally.
