Viewer Vomits - Sues "Fear Factor"
This is the most disgusting thing I've ever heard - even by Fear Factor standards. What a piece of crap show.

Fear Factor' sued for rat-eating episode
Viewer contends show caused him 'injury and great pain'

Friday, January 7, 2005 Posted: 8:23 AM EST (1323 GMT)

CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) -- A viewer is suing NBC for $2.5 million, contending that he threw up because of a "Fear Factor" episode in which contestants ate rats mixed in a blender.

Austin Aitken told The Associated Press he watches "Fear Factor" often and had no problem with past installments where the reality show's participants ate worms and insects in pursuit of a $50,000 prize -- but eating rats went "too far."

"It's barbaric, some of the things they ask these individuals to do," Aitken said Thursday.

4. most definitely in bad taste -- no pun intended
and it would make me puke too if I saw it. The goldfish-eating scene in A Fish Called Wanda damn near did. But I wouldn't think of suing anyone over it. I just look away or turn it off.

6. i saw that episode
and it was totally digusting - even by fear factor standards (using the term loosly). but this lawsuit is going to go nowhere. besides the fact that the plaintiff is familiar with the show, and therefore would have known that the second stunt almost always involves eating something disgusting, all he had to do was change the channel or turn the tv off. end of story. its like people listening to howard stern and then complaining that he offended them; they know the show and they've chosen to listen/watch it. deal with it.

and that's not even getting into a discussion of tort law and what he needs to prove to survive the expected motion for summary judgment that will be filed shortly by NBC.

9. Why was he watching the show?
they clearly advertise the types of things contestants do. I only watched it once, and they had to eat horse rectum. The person who ate the longest piece one.

I didn't need to watch the show again, but I certainly don't blame the SHOW for making me queasy - I knew they ate disgusting things. In fact, I'm pretty sure they say what they're gonna eat before they start doing so. he could've turned the tv off.

I hope he gets slapped down and has to pay the show's court costs.
