the number of people spelling ridiculous this way. Not to mention any number of other common words that are frequently misspelled. I find it hard to take a post seriously when the poster is too lazy to even hit spell check. We all make typos, but the incessant poor spelling on this site is an embarrassment.

because I certainly didn't in the thread I started. I said he was talented and due a measure of respect for his activism. Is that what you consider slamming someone? Try again.

10. You may not have slammed him as much as someone else did in the |
|
thread, but simply starting yet another thread (when so many have already done so) to invite his bashing (and do your own subtle bash) is slamming enough.

12. I've never even noticed that |

there are any threads slamming MM, and it's the first thing I've ever written about him. I have every right to start any thread I want, and I'll exercise that right as I see fit.

13. You certainly do have every right to start any thread you want... |
|
but you asked a question and I answered. How did you interpret that as my saying you had no right to start it? (Anymore than a user has the right to make typos?)

8. There is ONE person who uses that spelling |
|
and given the lack of apparent intelligent discourse the particular member engages in, I'm not surprised there has been no change. Too stupid or lazy to learn, I guess.:dunce:

So, I won't even touch the reason for the thread.
I just wanted to say I when I saw the tread I thought, "Geeze, someone worse than me". :)

11. I always remind myself that the base is "ridicule" |
|
I never pronounce "ridicule" as REE-dicule, so it helps me remeber that it's "ridiculous".
The misspelling of "lose" as "loose" is starting to annoy me the most, though. Even many people with decent writing skills seem to be guilty of that misspelling.

Subject-verb agreement and incorrect pronouns are HUGE pet peeves of mine! This girl I know who is actually very bright, always says things like, "Him and I was going to the store."
It takes every ounce of my will power not to correct her, but I know it's so inigrained that she probably won't ever correct it.

17. Not nearly as bad as looser's and any apostrophe s that is wrong. |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 05:16 PM by tjdee
Oh my lord. Seeing things like "Why are Dems such looser's" and "The Dem's are going to disappear"... ohhhhh.
I realize that makes me sound horribly anal and some kind of punctuation fascist, but ohhhh it hurts.
And loser is not spelled looser.
It hurts, it hurts!
