2. How'd you get it?
I've noticed that a lot of NBA players have been suffering with this over the last couple of years. I read somewhere that it's often the result of wearing new shoes constantly, oddly enough. And NBA players often wear new shoes every night.

9. Ouch. I have that, too.
Those first few steps out of bed every morning are the WORST. I felt like an old gimp when I was first diagnosed, then my husband reminded me that Mark McGuire has it, and I felt less wimpy and gimpy!

12. I had a pretty severe case in my left foot.
It's finally healed after quitting my job (4 months ago) which required standing on a cement floor eight hours a day. I tried nearly every shoe insert available, but nothing helped much until I stopped abusing it on that floor. A very painful condition.

16. Dansk Clogs, THINK! shoes, Stonefly, etc are FANTASTIC solutions
to bad shoes that caused the problem to begin with.

DON'T let them jack you up with cortizone, it doesn't work. Supports in your shoes don't work. HEEL CUPS WORK. I swear they do. The honeycombed cups that seat your heel square in your shoes. I PROMISE they work.

Spend the money, one pair at a time if you have to, and buy GOOD SHOES such as the brands mentioned above. They make great shoes for all your needs, whether male or female.

I had it for several years enduring tortuous tests and agony and between the heel cups and expensive shoes (that lost a LONG time, I might add) my feet are almost completely cured. I don't wear the heel cups anymore, but almost always the good shoes. I can now wear strappy ass sandals for a day or so, and have become a girl again, as far as shoes go.

17. Do you wear a night splint? Do you have lidocaine patches?
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 10:01 AM by Bertha Venation
I am supposed to wear a splint but I keep taking the damned thing off in my sleep. When I get up I can barely walk.

My doc gave me lidocaine patches to get me through until the splint & exercises start helping.

Plantar fasciitis is a real PITA, isn't it?!! ARGH!

18. I had horrible Plantar Fasciitis about 10 years ago...
I went to a podiatrist and found I had heal spurs. I also had orthotics made that I wore most of the time for a while. After a few years, the pain went away, and it only comes back now after hours of standing or walking, and I am still very active. The tendons that were causing all the pain must have stretched out or something.

I developed the spurs from years of running long distance, as well as having inherited my almost flat-feet from my father.

Oh... yeah... a question... um... are your spurs bigger than mine, or do you not have heal spurs (yet)?

23. Good then... sounds like you caught it before it got worse
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 10:23 AM by Misunderestimator
I waited for over a year while the pain got worse to see a doctor... it's possible that the spurs developed during that year because I didn't do anything about the tendon stretching. As I recall, the doc explained that the tendon pulling away from the heel is what causes the body to deposit calcium in the heel to er... heal it, which causes the spurs.

21. Got Hot water?- golf ballor coke bottle?
Soak the foot to loosen up the tendon. Then slowly rub your foot over a golf ball or a coke bottle or anything like that. Go slow at first and slowly turn you toes upward while you do it.
