Which one is better? Personally I dig the Airplane version...

2. Yeah what happened in the 80's?

A lot of bands that had been good in the 70's or 60's started to suck. It was a decade with a lot of music that seriously sucked so maybe they were caught up in the atmosphere or feeling of the time. Most of the ones who made into the 90's started to sound decent again. The Rolling Stones come to mind.

3. Well, the Dead sounded good UNTIL the 90's :)

After 92 or so, they went downhill til Jerry died. But those first 30 years were pretty damned good :)

As far as Wooden Ships, the ultimate version was by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young at Woodstock. Best version period.
