Am I the only person who thinks King Of The Hill really fucking SUCKS??
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 11:27 PM by SmileyBoy
Look, Mike Judge is an overall genius, don't get me wrong. Beavis and Butt-Head and Office Space were two of his best projects, and both were funny as hell. KOTH however, is absolutely devoid of any humour (if any parts of a show do present any humour, it's very dry and stale), involves very irritating characters, and has very weak plots. I've never understood why it's so popular for some reason, and has been on for almost 8 years now. Judge went from Beavis and Butt-Head to this??? I think he should've just kept the show going instead of starting that other weak-ass, shitty show. I'll never understand King Of The Hill's appeal. That Bobby character is quite possibly the most irritating, annoying, real/animated character I have ever seen on a TV show in my life.

Anyone agree with me???

1. Eh. It's hit or miss.
I'll agree its nothing near the genius that was Beavis and Butthead or Office Space, but it can be OK...just overall kinda lame...

I was watching some old episodes of B&B the other day and it bummed me out. I tried watching KOTH a couple times when it first came out and it just has NOTHING. I think the only reason it's lasted as long as it has is because it's animated, if it was a regular show the writing would have tanked it.

It seriously depresses me that the creators of the mighty B&B are reduced to this dumbed down mainstream-esque humorless junk television.

I was a dork in highschool and even I would have beat Bobby's ass.

Edit: I loved Joe Dirt btw

I can't believe that it has lasted as long as it has. I think that it is mostly due to it being scheduled close to the Simpsons. I could be wrong though.

I can't believe that it has succeeded but Futurama, and Family Guy were both taken off.

25. Finest show in the history of television; Tom Landry Middle School
You have to be from Texas to understand a lot of it, granted, or know lots of white trash, or at least appreciative of sometimes very subtle humor, but it's still pretty fucking hilarious.

Compared to "Beavis and Butthead" or "Office Space," both of which I thought wre good, "King of the Hill" is pure genius, a masterpiece. I'm not shitting you here, either -- I own the books, the DVDs, and the autographs. "Shins of the Father" or the one in which they try to teach Bobby not to smoke is the modern day equivalent of Shakespeare.

I have often said on DU that the world can be divided into two camps: those who think that "Tom Landry Middle School" is the funniest concept ever realized, or those that just don't get it. You, my friend, fall under the catagory of those who just don't get it.

but just as often it irritates me. Yes, many of the characters are annoying. I get some chuckles out of it but big laughs are rare. The satire against Texas conservatives is probably too subtle for most of them to realize that they are being laughed at.
