My dad just did something pretty stupid just now... |
|
He was sitting on the couch and all of the sudden he yelled "my leg is burning!" and he proceeded to jump off the couch and tried to empty the contents of his pants pocket, but it was too hot and he was dancing around and yelling "my leg is hot!". The moron left 3 double A batteries in a pocket full of change. The batteries and change were all piping hot...that was good for a 5 minute laugh at his expense...Don't worry he wasn't hurt or anything, but it was damn funny!

20 years ago I was in a McDonalds in a major city at lunchtime, in line to buy lunch. I reached in my pocket to pull out money and somehow... don't even ask how.... I managed to light a match. I had a book of matches that somehow got twisted around with a match against the striker, and as I pulled my change out, I lit the match.
I did a mysterious jig, slapping at my crotchal area yelling "ouch".

I guess the metal from the coins complete the electrical circuit and then heat up. I'm not really sure about how it specifically happens

Did you know that you can blow yourself up at the gas station if you generate static electricity and then touch the gas pump? If you create a spark you can actually ignite the gas fumes and blow yourself up.
Apparently this has happened more than once; usually to people who get back in their car when pumping, and they have fabric seats or floor mats.
The lesson is: ground yourself before you get back out of your car at the gas station!

to start the gas pumping and get back in the car to stay warm in cold weather. Then they slide across the cloth seat and charge themselves up with static electricity , step out and BOOM!
:nuke:
What a horrible thing to have happen to you! :scared:
