My brother's father-in-law was in the Luftwaffe. |
|
He was captured in Stalingrad in 1942-43. In 1955 he walks through the door and my sis was born. I love me nephew and nieces, they all speak 3 languages and are dual citizens. Ain't life strange.

The Soviets kept some prisoners for decades. I meant my sis in law.

4. My cousin's father in law was in the Wermacht. Drafted at 14. |
|
He was plucked off his farm and put in uniform toward the end of the war. He was a POW for years too.
He's a good man and I'd do anything for him.

.. my granddad on my mothers side spent some time in a Danish KZ camp. Apparently, his brother was working for the Danish resistance but was exposed. And when the Germans showed up at my great-grandparents, and couldn't find him, they took my granddad instead. It really shook him, so after the war they had very little contact.
My dad's girlfriends dad was also in a KZ camp, he was arrested as a member of the Danish police force in 1943. However, he seems quite open re. talking about it.
