ELVIS PRESLEY was born on January 8, 1935.
Today would've been his 70th birthday. I wonder what a 70-year-old Elvis would be like? Hmm.... Perhaps we're all better off not knowing, huh?

I know not everybody at DU likes Elvis, but I sure as hell do. And I hope the man has found in death the peace that eluded him in life.

Rock on, Elvis! :headbang:

4. i find it ironic
that so many people on this board will take their time to lambast and tear apart today's pop stars, whether it be for their attempts to uphold an image or their lack of ability to write their own hits, when essentially, elvis was the same thing.

kind of funny that way.

but all of that aside, i still enjoy the guy's music and wish him a happy birthday.

7. I never hold it against singers who don't write their own stuff
A great voice doesn't necessary coincide with songwriting talent.

8. Yes, but you see there is one thing that separates Elvis
from the pop stars of today. He could actually sing! He didn't need some person in a studio mixing up his voice track so he sounded half way decent.

5. Mom and Elvis were born exactly 10 years apart
I remember being at my aunt and uncle's home when my dad called from work to tell us Elvis had died, and we were all stunned by the news.

10. I loved Elvis, and I feel no shame in saying so.
I was eleven years old when he died, and I still remember distinctly what I was doing when I heard about it.
