Once the credits closed on the hotel's sign out front. The letters had been rearranged to read Farty Towels. I just lost it. Completely cracked me up. I guess I am easily amused.

I've seen every episode at least 20 times.
Best television show ever made, IMO.

Just brilliant writing, a perfect cast...a perfect blend of great writing and physical comedy. I have all episodes on a VHS gift set..including interviews with John Cleese on the writing process with Connie Booth, the actress who played Polly (and Cleese's ex-wife in real life), how the cast came to be and backround stories about the show.
My favorite situation comedy of all time. Near pitch perfect.

15. My favourite episode.. |
|
.. hard to pick one, but the 3 most memorable ones are (in no particular order):
1: The one with Manuel's pet rat 2: The one where Basil think that one of the guests is dead 3: The one where Basil has a concussion ("Don't mention the WAR!")

17. I think my favorite is "Hotel Inspectors" |
|
Sybil mentions to Basil that 3 hotel inspectors are in town to review local hotels. Basil wants to make a good impression on the inspectors and fawns and gushes over guests he perceives as the inspectors (while being rude to the other guests). Bernard Cribbins plays one of the guests Basil thinks is the inspector. :-)
