WE GOT A NEW KITTY! WE GOT A NEW KITTY!
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 10:53 PM by bbernardini
Went to Petsmart to pick up something for my mother-in-law, and Cat Angel (a no-kill shelter) was having an Adopt-A-Thon. We got our last cat from them, so the adoption process was a bit streamlined. When we saw this sweetheart, we knew we had to bring her home. Her name is Belinda. Apparently, someone anonymously left 15 kittens in 3 cages in front of Petsmart a while back. She was one of them. She's not really a Maine Coon, but she certainly does look like one, doesn't she?

7. I think that was by chance...
She was moving around so much, any good shots I got were pure luck.

14. I have a kitty too that is or is not a Maine Coon...wiskers are about
three feet end to end..and hairy feet and ears..bigger than most medium sized dogs! And as lovable as a baby...and he is almost 2..been fixed of course! I do not have a camera or I would post a picture! Black and white...his name is 'Precious Face' when he is good (say that name and purring begins immediately) and 'Monster.com' when he is bad!

16. Congratulations on the new baby!
I have 2 and a third is desperately trying to move in.

My neighbor fed a colony of feral cats for years but he died last summer. I took over feeding them but it's becoming a problem. Last summer one became tame and a couple kids took her as a pet. Now another is tamed but won't use a litter box so I threw him out again.

The rest (10-12) have used a pet door to move into a part of my basement and have turned it into a giant litter box. They've been around for years and would come in the basement but never did this before. I stopped feeding them hoping they would at least stay out but it didn't work and I felt bad so I started feeding them again.

Now I really have my hands full.

17. Check with your local shelter
to see if they have a TNR (trap, neuter, release) program. It may not solve your immediate problem but it will help keep it from getting bigger.

21. Local shelter is private
I have to catch them myself and I've managed to do that a couple times but they get smart and tougher to catch.

I just wish pet owners were more responsible and there wouldn't be such a feral cat problem.

18. Aww, she's so pretty!
You sure she's not a Maine Coon? She could almost be an exact visual replica of the sweet, crotchety, purebred old guy we used to have and still miss so much.

Whatever "brand" she is, she's lovely!

19. At least the person who left the cats had
the wisdom to leave them at a pet store. Maybe he/she knew that a no kill adoption agency operated out of that Pet Smart.

Glad one found its way to you!
