I had been a John Irving fan for years. (What is the compulsion with bears and wrestling, by the way?) When they announced the movie, the Roberta Muldoon character was one that I could not figure someone being able to pull off. I transsexual former professional football player? How could you sell that character to an audience? Lithgow brought it to life perfectly. She was tough, charming, sensitive, physical and believable. One of the greatest acting jobs I've ever seen.

10. In defiance of the critics I always thought "Third Rock" was hilarious... |
|
and he was great in it.
Check out his children's CD's. "From the Indies to the Andies In His Undies" is wonderful.
