Kephra was an angel on this earth.
It was my good fortune to have crossed his path, here in the forum and on the phone for TruthOut.

MommaKeph, if you're reading this, know that your son's friends number in the thousands. And his effect was always to make us think a little harder, try a little more, understand a little better. He drew out the best in everybody here.

Sweet Keph. Always here in the heart.

4. Yes, he did represent the best of the DemocraticUnderground...

My home forum has always been LBN. I'm a news junkie. Ever since I was a toddler, I was always fascinated with current events. When I volunteered to be a moderator, there was only one forum for me: LBN. Since May of 2002, I've been a DUer, heart and soul.

In LBN, there have been two persons during all that time who have posted consistently - Scott (Khephra) and Don (NNN0LHI). They were the first DUers I conversed with almost three years ago. In many ways, both are, for me, the prototypical DUers.

I've spoken with Kef many times on the forums. He was upfront about the demons he fought for years - mirroring the demons I'd been fighting with. For an anonymous message board in which one's identity doesn't go far beyond our usernames, avatars and signatures, Kef stood out to me as a real guy. He was always more than his username, his avatar and his signature. Kef was a friend.

I never knew I could feel so sad about someone's passing without knowing them personally, face-to-face. But, I feel really sad this morning, knowing that Kef will be posting no more.

Really fucking sad...

5. The ABSOLUTE best.
He was our Tom Brokaw. The wings on our airplane.

He was almost exclusively our LBN. DU will NOT be the same without him. He *will* be missed, in so many ways.

11. A ZombyKick for Keph
I loved talking church/state issues with him, and we had many good-natured music discussions. It's a void which can never be replaced on DU.
