To the CU lurkers who posted respectful tributes to Khephra
Thanks for the consideration. Whether you agree with his/our politics or not, it's reassuring to see a little nonpartisan respect for a fallen soldier in this ideological war we're all waging.

I like to think DUers would do the same for you, if you lost one of your friends/family.

Life isn't just politics.

Peace.

3. I was thinking the same thing tonight
I detest most conservative policy ideas, but I deeply admire anyone who dedicates their lives to a cause.

A patriot is a patriot.

4. You're right, life is a helluva lot more than just politics
There are good people on all sides. It important to remember that. I'm glad that those who are visiting here seem to feel the same way, even if they don't agree with us ideologically.

I join in the hope that DUers would do the same were the positions reversed.

10. which threads did they post to?
I've read through several, but only saw one with a lurker posting (and he sounded like a Dem).

Very good of them if the other side was able to come through with some kind words for a good man.

13. There was a thread on Kephra at
Conservativeunderground.com

While there were a couple of nasty comments, the vast majority were kind and considerate.

Having read it through, I noticed there were a few rude comments made.
But that's to be expected from the "other" side.

21. I didn't know that CU existed until just now.
What a strange place! I reminds me of those stories you hear about places in the Deep South where people are "cured" of homosexuality". "Gay? No, sir! I've prayed out the gay! I'm as straight as the day is long, and I no longer think of big, fat, hot cocks, every minute!"

Like that, only for liberalism.

14. Say what you want, but aside from a few
weirdos, we'd feel compassion for them in a similar circumstance. They''ve had some assholes posting over there, we've got some assholes here also. Being right about politics doesn't necessarily make you a good person, being wrong politically doesn't make one a bad person. It is true that the divisions within America are created by the powers that be to strengthen the base. There was a time that it was understood that reasonable minds differ, the world was a better place then.

26. I've now seen several posts from you knocking DU.. for the record
a freeper woman posted about her missing son and DU'ers were right there attempting to help.....it would be nice if you would actually have something to back yourself up with when you slam this community...there are assholes everywhere but the vast majority of members here were FAR more decent when Reagan died than were conservatives when Paul Wellstone died.

16. OK, what did I miss?
Are you telling me some of the folks at CU actually posted respectful tributes to Khephra, rather than sneering and making fun of us for mounring his death? OK, I'll admit it: I'm surprised!

To any CUer (or freeper, for that matter) who may be reading this: you have my gratiude and respect. If one of your own should pass away, I like to think that we at DU would afford you the same courtesy.

See you on the battlefield! :hi:

I never go there, but I understand they're the anti-DU, and there are a few people who post both there and here. It shows class to be able to put that aside in a time like this.

23. There Are Good People On All Parts of the Political Spectrum
I know I'm not very popular on CU, having been voted #10 on their "Worst of DU" survey. But it does my heart good to see the sincere messages of condolence coming from so many over there.

Kheprha's passing has shown us that people on both sides of the aisle have feelings.

29. It shows there are real, thinking, feeling people on the "other" side...
something which we tend to forget in the heat of political battle. We are all human beings and political differences do not necessarily make evil people.

Although I did not know Khephra, I would like to thank CU for their show of civility and sympathy.

Although "Skinner" (real creative, eh?) on that thread appears to be a complete ass.

He actually thinks DUers support terrorism. I guess he's got an easy explanation for Porter Goss's cancelling the daily anti-terror briefing, too.
