It is frigging cold in my apartment. Why haven't I called the building
manager? My nose is cold.

I shouldn't complain. My heat hasn't worked since they came to do 'maintenance' a few months ago. Somehow, it's only top of mind late at night.

2. Can't you two turn the heat up
a bit? If not, the oven on the stove will solve your problems. Turn it on about 250 or 300, leave the door open and enjoy the heat.

the oven. I live in Wisconsin and sometimes use it to take the chill out of the air in the mornings in the spring and fall.

Also a pot of water simmering on the stove will add moisture to the air and moist air is warmer.

and I also run the risk of an extremely High electric bill that way, thanks to the sale of cheap cheap electricity by Bonneville to Enron, for some reason.

I am wearing cashmere or alpaca socks. Slippers. If I don't have the slippers on, my feet are under a down throw.

I've always had cold hands and feet.

My hot water is free. I often warm up with hot water.

If the air is cold, moisture will make it seem cooler.

7. I lived in Michigan before
coming to Wisconsin and in Michigan we had a forced air furnace. We ran a humidifier most of the winter to add moisture to the air. I kept us from "drying out" and also made the air warmer. Don't need a humidifier here, we have hot water heat so the air doesn't dry out like it did in Mich.

We get really cold weather here (not so far this winter) I've seen 30 below for a week at a time in late December or early January.

10. Sounds like my building
Except for the thermostat. It doesn't matter what I set it at.

8. The thermostat doesn't really do anything as far as I can tell
Prior to the maintenance, I had one of the warm apartments in the building - I basically couldn't turn the heat off - I would leave my balcony door open in winter. Since the maintenance, it hardly works. It is on now, but only a little. I've got it set to about 90 - it doesn't make a difference.

I do have a space heater. My place will warm up soon, but I just got home.
