I'm drunk and mildly depressed - Simpsons season 3 awaits |
|
...unless you guys can cheer me up.
I am getting depressed reading about AWD and foriegncorrespondent. I missed a chance to go out with my Philly DU friends on Saturday night. I agree with the intent of the new GD rules but keep remembering the cliche about the ends justifying the means. The Democratic candidate I want to support (Carol Moseley Braun) has no chance, and I am otherwise undecided. My new Rufus Wainwright CD "Want One" (which, by the way, is brilliant pop music) has not arrived from Amazon.
I do, however, have the Simpsons Season 3 DVD which I am halfway through. Can YOU keep me from turning off DU for the night in favor of Homer and Bart?

I have really enjoyed hearing what she has had to say. She's really been getting the message out and that is important. I find that she has been saying the things I have been thinking. Do you think she'd accept the number two spot? Do you think we should take a chance on someone who is both female and black when we can take no chances in winning this election? It makes me sad that we have to play it so safe and probably make too many compromises to appeal to more conservative swing voters to win.:-(
on edit: I also am a great ``Simpsons'' fan. You probably used to read the descriptions I wrote about the show in your local newspaper.:-)

We cant let our superficalness Rhi get to us, for the candiate's stance on the issues matters more than looks.

4. I'm not sure what you mean about looks, John. |
|
Who among any of the candidates is particularly drop-dead gorgeous, anyway? LOL!:7
Looks are important, to a certain extent. The fact that Nixon, who had been ill, looked pale and shaken during the first-ever televised debate probably cost him the election. He also hit his head on an overhead mike, shortly before the telecast started, which hardly helped matters. Kennedy, on the other hand, who agreed to wear makeup under the then-harsh TV lights, appeared healthy and confident.:hangover:
With this field, however, none is a standout, IMHO, in this area. They all have appeared confident and well-spoken, and I have seen few stumble, except, of course, our stutterer-in-chief. Kucinich does look more statesman-like with his new hairstyle, but no one faults Sharpton for his unusual do; his followers are there for his message. I believe this is also true for Kucinich and Moseley Braun.

I say fight hard for Ms. Moseley Braun, do not let that get to you. Shes a good lady, and I think deserves a chance. What happened to foriegn correspent, I kind of know about AWD. I dont know if I can keep you on DU.
