Poll question: Which one of these individuals have I never met?
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 11:03 AM by MrScorpio
I was just thinking about all the people I've met over the years and some of the folks I never got around to meeting.

So comes along this little poll.

Only one of these folks is a person that I haven't met but wish I did.

Your mission is to figure out who it is.

A little background. I've been a lefty all my life

I'm originally from Detroit. I joined the Air Force 22 years ago. I've been stationed on both sides of the world, but spent most of my career stationed in Virginia, both northern and southern. I used to work in the Pentagon.

I'm into all kinds of music and science fiction.

I drive a convertible.

Now take all of this info and figure out who I didn't meet.

13. The Answer
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 03:01 PM by MrScorpio
I met both Donald Byrd and Bobbi Humphrey at a Congressional Black Caucus jazz concert in DC back in 1994. Dr. Byrd, as you know, is one of the greatest jazz musicians ever and was a professor of music at Howard University.

Bobbi Humphrey, also one of my favorite musicians and also plays the flute.

I met Kim Catrall outside of the FORBIDDEN PLANET bookstore on 12th and Broadway in NYC back in 1990. I got her autograph and then lost it. She's very tall BTW and a very nice person.

I met FLIGHT OF THE INTRUDER author Stephen Coonts twice (the only one on this list to have that distinction). Both at book signing, of course. The first time at the Pentagon Bookstore, I got an autographed copy of FOTI and the second just a couple of years ago at the Newport News B&N. Nice guy.

I met ROBOCOP and TOTAL RECALL Actor Ronny Cox in Georgetown in D.C. He was in town shooting a movie. The meeting happened like this: I walked out of this record store on Wisconsin Ave. and start heading towards M Street. Coming towards my direction is this tall gent with a very familiar face and his female companion. I stumble and say, "You're, you're, you're...", "Ronny Cox!", smiling as he finishes my sentence. "Yeah." I say. Then we keep going towards our destinations. He seemed like a nice guy.

I shook Jesse Jackson's hand during a MLK rally at the National Mall, up in DC. I was stoked after that one.

I met shook reggae artist Sugar Minott's hand at his concert in Austin TX, back in 1984. One of the things I like about Austin was great, up close and personal live music.

I met Star Trek's Mr Sulu George Takei during a book signing in Alexandria VA back in the early 1990's.

Of all these folks I met, I spent the longest with L.A. Law actor Blair Underwood. About and hour or so. Back in 1988, I voluteered to run the information tent at the National Special Olympics event at Galudet Univ., in Washington D.C. Mr. Underwood was gracious enough to be the Grand Marshal for the event's parade. But before the event started, he and his sister sat it out in my tent for a while before the parade took off. He and his sister were nice down to Earth folks who were happy to sign any autograph and speak to anybody who came along. Too bad, i didn't bring my camera.

So that leaves only one person, the person I have never met, The Big Dog, President Bill Clinton.

Who knows. maybe some day I will.

If you picked Mr. Clinton, you picked correctly.

14. I knew it! I was right!
You and my niece should get together and discuss all the celebrities you've met. She works as a booking producer at KRON in San Francisco and meets EVERYBODY. What a cool life you've led!
