I spent my time between Miami and Bogota during the 80s and it was a bloody affair.
In Miami, which saw its murder rate skyrocket, they had to rent one of the Burger King freezer trucks to store all the bodies.
In Bogota, everybody who worked in downtown was terrified cause bombs exploding in office buildings were a common occurrence.
The era spawned movies like Scarface and TV shows like Miami Vice.
