2. The place has become...............

a zoo. There are many newcomers that believe this place did not exist before they graced us with their presence. I have nothing against newcomers, but to come in and act like you own the place is a different story altogether. There has been a great influx of disruptors as well, but that's to be expected.
The level of discourse has degraded to a point where I and many others are avoiding the place until after a nominee is chosen. Perhaps then we can return to the halcyon days of DU, where we leveled our anger and disdain for Conservatives, and not each other.

4. The biggest problem, IMO, is this.

The supporters of the different democrats running for president.

I've kept pretty quiet about them, simply because I know so little about each one and their positions.

I know Clark is doing some major waffling.

The others though are pretty much unknown to me as of yet.

But each candidate has their own supporters, of varying loyalty.

And some I've seen will defend their chosen, like how most of the Freepers defend Bush.

So this is causing some real friction, especially the food fights in GD. :-)

I'm no stranger to this.

I've been nailed for my views on Michael Moore and on astrology, in one instrance someone was sending me private messages that were outright obscene.

And of course, there are those rows I have with the ViQueens fans...:-)

I'm sure that the D.U. address is included as part of the "volunteer orientation kit" in some campaigns. The degreee of zealotry infestation has been stunning. 'Tis why my IGNORE LIST grows so HUGE.

And NONE of them will be around in the Spring of '05 to pick-up the pieces at local Dem HQ's.

10. I am blessed with such a short attention span..........

and reading down many threads gives me a headache..............so I've missed all the venom....................and probably alot of good insights, too.

However, I've been getting into some less than pleasant discussions in the Outside World. I feel such a sense of desperation about this administration and the upcoming election that I let my mouth run away with my brain. Bad, bad vibes! Seems.......and probably is........life and death. Is it some sort of atavistic survial thingy kicking in to protect my progeny? Feels like it.

I used to chat alot in irc chat, and one thing that would without a doubt kill off a chatroom would be when there was this "inner circle" of oldtimers just chatting with eachother not allowing new ppl to get into the circle of regs(regulars).

Ofcourse the new person would spend some time there, and leave never to come back.

And guess what, the inner circle regulars would get bored and leave after awhile anyway (just like on this board), so the chatroom would just get more and more emty.

I'm glad I found this place. I hate the NeoCons and what they've done to the USA. They are the real hijackers; they took our liberties, our budget surplus, our jobs, and our rights.

Hopefully for the sake of those who are concerned about this place, the site can stay focused on its core principles. Toss the spammers and the disruptors. Eventually they will get tired of it. It's a lot easier and quicker to throw them out than it is for them to invent a new email account.

Only if the user's IP address was constant. Dial-up users get a new addy every time they re-connect. Even some DSL and cable systems are geared to change the address every once in a while, though I'm not sure on the specifics.

I've only been posting here for a few months, but really enjoyed Nighttrains music polls. Wonder what caused him to leave.

As far as candidates are concerned, I plan on voting for whoever wins the nomination. I do have a candidate I prefer, however, I certainly don't have any interest in running down any other Dem candidates. Any of them would be far superior to what we have now. "Can't we all just get along."

I just go back after a three month hiatus (lived in our RV while in search of domicile) and I don't notice much difference. Nobody does much Green or Nader flaming anymore but otherwise it's business as usual. There has been much rancor and name calling which I choose to ignore because there is so much GOOD that occurs here. In the end it is all about reclaiming our nation from fascists.
