Food Network Cutie and Food Poisoning Outbreak waiting to happen
I watch 30 Minute Meals alot. Right now I'm looking for a job, so I have a little down time in the afternoons, so I'm watching a lot of Food Network and History Channel programming. I think Rachel Ray is a hoot. I think she's cute. But I would never eat her food. Next time you're watching her program, pay special attention to the way she washes her hands. CAse in point: The other day she was making these burgers. They were specially seasoned with sauce. The girl pats them into thick patties. When she's done putting them on the grill, she goes to the sink to "wash" her hands. She turns on the warm water, rinses all the gook off, never touching the soap. But even when she does use soap, she puts soap on her hands, then instead of sudsing up, she rinses immediately. Anyone else ever notice this? Duckie

1. I want to slam her "garbage bowl" over her head! |
|
Oh look i turned a cutlet..."Excellent", i'm making "Snackers" and....."Yummo" She drives me insane and yet i watch, it's like a car accident, don't wanna look, can't look away.
In regards to her hand cleaning or lack there of, she has like zero water pressure in that stage kitchen, they should fix that.
I'm done ranting now.

way too much fruit and meat going on, and no Rachael, raisins golden or otherwise don't need to go into every dish, neither does cumin. And while i'm at it, on her other show $40 a day? She is the worlds worst tipper.

It's included. The staff over there get paid decent wages, unlike waitresses here she stiffs who get $3 at the most per hour. Duckie

She's like a train wreck. I always think she is teetering just on the edge of sanity. Must be her nervous laugh. Just yesterday she mentioned having a boyfriend, and I couldn't believe it.

Blah. Her shows are a little addicting, though--especially $40 a Day, when they go to Europe. I watched the "Tuscany" episode this morning--beautiful scenery and the food looked wonderful.

"especially when they go to Europe", as you say. The "Tuscany" episode was one of the best.
OTOH, I did see her in person at a book signing about a month ago in Encinitas, CA. She is even better looking in person - with a very winning personality. In fact, after that experience, I'd have to say she's one of the best looking/cutest women on TV today.

Keep in mind that some people eat ground beef raw. I'd worry a bit if she did the same thing with chicken. Honestly, I don't think salmonella is as big a deal as they make it out to be. The washing knives and hands thing is just a good habit, it's not guaranteed that you're going to get food poisoning if you forget a few times.
And yes, she's a cutie and a half.

cook who have very little time and are likely to eat store bought prepared crap rather than make their own food.
Many of her dishes are quite sound. She doesn't put on ANY pretense of being 'gourmet'.
At least she washes her hands... I don't think I've ever seen Mario, Emeril or Flay wash their hands at all.

We have two kids and some of her 30 minute meals suit our family's time frame for dinner just right. Our boys even like helping make some of her dinners (we have her 30 minute meals for kids book).
Admittedly, she can be annoyingly perky in the Katie Couric (sp?) sense, but she is helping some of us kitchen-challenged get over our fears.
Besides, she ain't too bad on the eyes, I've seen her in a Bikini in Hawaii on one of her $40/day shows, not too shabby! :)

|
If you've noticed, the Food Network pushes "stars" who then flame out eventually. Bobby Flay had three shows going for a while. Sara had two going. Rachel is the current pushee. Make it while you can, baybee!
Hosting her $40 show must be the world's best job.
But she's no David Rosengarten. Rachael's approach to cooking is kinda surprising for that network. Almost everything is pre-chopped or pre-packaged. Even the crudites.

The show appeals to people who don't have a lot of time for cooking or food prep, and/or prefer to rely on some types of convenience foods.

....cook a meal in thirty minutes on her "cook along" show? Or did she have an hour? I adored Sara. Rachel might be easier to watch after she matures some. The nutty thumb gestures and the giggle get old.

You know the really skinny one who's mouth is always open baring all of her teeth. I think her name is something like Guida or Gevallia or something like that. I can't stand to watch her. I know she supposidly spent her youth in Italy but the way she pronounces spagetti just is like nails on a black board. I know her show is suppose to be the poor mans Nigella Bites--but god-she's just horrid!
