I thought that the commentators were way over the top in their prefab outrage quotient. Players take cheap shots, do late hits, spear with their helmets every game, all of the actions that can cause serious injury, paralysis, and even death, but I never hear quite the shock and indignation expressed over that stuff that you hear over manufactured moral issues. Ray Lewis can strut and dance and make outrageous statements but I hear nothing but fawning remarks about his idiocy. If you don't think that thug has a place waiting in the announcers' booth for him at the end of his career, you're crazy. But a player like Moss, who can be a pain in the ass, at least is honest about himself. Did anyone see the interview with Jimmy Johnson before the game? Another ridiculous moment. Moss made remarks to the effect that he knows that walking off the field last week with 2 seconds left was the wrong thing to do, but then said basically that it is just the way he is. He also said he can't promise that he wouldn't do it or something like it again in the future. All the guy was saying was that he is human, and he might "fuck up" again. You'd think they could at least give him a little credit for being frank and honest. But then someone (was it Howie Long?) goes bonkers after the interview, saying that Moss claimed that he might do it again if he got the chance. What bullshit. That was not what Moss was saying at all. No wonder the guy feels contemptuous and doesn't really give a damn. It looks like after the Terrell Owens Monday night "outrage" and the Janet Jackson nipple incident, and Ricky Williams audacious retirement (the nerve! Crotchety relic Mike Wallace's interview with him on 60 Minutes was like a lost scene from Reefer Madness), sports announcers have figured out that a great way to get ratings and to be able to preen about as moral avatars is to take some minor incident or remark, blow it up way out of proportion, and let the media and public follow like lapdogs. Face it, teams don't hire role models, they hire athletes.

Good luck in Philly, you'll need it!

to be a Viking fan! Randy left 2 seconds before the game ended last week Blah Blah Blah Randy plays when he wants to play Blah Blah Blah Randy MOONED the slacker fans Blah Blah Blah. I Love every minute of the slacker fans whining. All I heard all week was how the Vikings BACKED into the playoffs and how the Vikings will be playing at Limburger field So What! Favre Favre Favre enough to make ya puke. Well Me may not go any further into the playoffs but at least we kicked the shit out of the slackers at their house and knocked them out of the playoffs. Yes a wonderful day in Viking Land! And to the poster that said even in Minnesota we don't like Moss where do you get your info?

What was even more funny was the stuffy announcer during the game - right after Randy 'moons' the crowd, the play-by-play guy goes "That is... DISGUSTING!"
LMAO!! Reminds me of all the conservatives whining after the Super Bowl last year about how "disgusting" a woman's breast is. Oh gee, it's a woman's breast!! Gross!! LOL

I was at the game today. That was horrible, I'm sad we lost but the way we played, especially Favre, we deserved to lose. I thought it was horrible disrespectful when practically all of the Vikings fans started yelling during the Reggie White memorial thing. But to be fair, one Packer fan said something first, but it was just one.
Moss is an overrated jackass. I'm sorry, that's all there is to it. He has no respect for anything or anybody. He's just a classic jerk.

"Vikings Fan". As a veteran fan who has seen many Vikings/Packers games here at the dome, I'll accept a Packers fan's assessment of a lack of class--you certainly exhibit enough of it. I've seen the signs, and heard the jeers--do you think that possibly Mr. Moss might have been responding to somebody specific?
Overrated? Bullshit. You'd take him in a second if he was available.

And how is what he did any worse than what TO has ever done?

Now I won't have to hear all the Packer Backer's at work gloating anymore. Now I just get to hear them all whine. Although my Vikes probably didn't deserve to make it this far, they did and they played a damn good game today! Too bad the Packers forgot to show up...

Does the name Kurt Warner mean anything to ye?
How about Michael Vick?
In the spirit of this thread, let's see where Daunte is 10 seasons from now, then come back and prove me wrong. I seem to recall a season not too long ago ('02?) where Daunte led the league in turnovers. He's having a career year this year, but I don't see any rings on his finger yet.
Bragging rights belong to the Vikings today, but they'll mean something more if they still exist next week Monday.
Until then, Favre is one of the best. Ever. :)
