still good though:
Browned stew meat in cooking oil
then added:
chopped garlic (several cloves), whole chopped onion, 2 stalks chopped celery and let that all simmer covered for a half hour
next
1 can beef broth 3 cups water 1 can tomato sauce
brough that to boil and
let that simmer an hour
then added:
2 cans sliced mushrooms
1 16 0z pkg of chopped carrots, peas, corn and green beans
1 and one half large cut up peeled baking potatos
took the other half potato and grated it into the stew to thicken
2 handfuls of elbow macaroni
2 tablespoons worcestershire salt and pepper
let it all simmer another 30 minutes
it is the perfect rainy day meal

|
one of those meals where you cook a little...go do something else...tend to it...go do something else...and on a cold rainy evening when you are grieving...FULL ON COMFORT FOOD!
Let me know how you like it...it's cool because I keep all that stuff in my pantry, fridge and freezer anyway

6. Almost gone-bad basil is the key, I've discovered |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 10:03 PM by Kathy in Cambridge
some of the leaves had oxidized, and the basil flavor becomes more pronounced. I also toast the pine-nuts and use roasted garlic. I use a combo of romano and parm, salt & pepper, EVOO.
Good to see you around again! :hi:
So sad about kheph!

not rocking the boat and being a good girl! ;-) Keeping my opinions to myself and not being a brat.
Roasted pinenuts taste better in pesto.
Did you get much snow? Cambridge got about 1", but we had ice and the streets are a mess. :-(

It kept changing from one to the other and back again.

|
today...very unusual for us...we have a storm from the north AND the south converging over us so one minute it is cold...the next minute a warm breeze comes through...
I've had to empty water from the pool twice today
