Would have preferred "Ray" myself.

17. I guess it was a little joke.
It's amazing how everything has to be balanced these days. They have to balance Moore with Gibson. Whatever

26. sorry, but I don't understand the Hate for The Passion here...
Maybe I'm missing something really sinister Mel did... hey, I'm up for enlightenment. Fill me in.

I did see the Passion and I was moved by it (a little disturbed by the violence, yes, but I also saw Kill Bill and hundreds of other bloodynesses in my theatre/move experiences)

Mel did not invent the Jesus story, nor did he invent violence on the screen, nor was the movie anti-semetic in the slightest way in my view - in fact, I had such a feeling of sorrow for Judas that I had never experienced before.

I took the long drawn out flaying and beating as a reminder to us what real suffering is - it's not over in a 2 hour movie like we are used to - real life torture and suffering is not like that, the main character can't turn off the DVD player when it gets too rough.

Anyways, this is coming from a very non traditional 'religious' person - I just like to believe that people like Jesus do walk amongst us - if not, we're truly fucked/

The Passion and F9-11. You can't enjoy them both.

8. The actual filming of Passion of the Christ was beautiful
That being said, had it been made about anyone other than Jesus it would have been given an NC-17 rating for the overt, graphic violence it contained.

24. I agree
On a technical level, I thought the Passion was tremendous (sound, editing, cinematography, costumes, etc.). Too bad the movie was dragged down by every cliche in the book, like slow-motion photography, flashbacks, and behind-closed-door debates between Pilate, his wife, et al. And then there's all the stuff Mel added to the Bible to make it more marketable. Aw, well. It certainly paid off.

Again, he won this award fairly, though. Congrats.

Moore's award was due to ballot stuffing. The Passion was an accurate vote. Amazing.

14. These nutbags, they hate the awards, think it's rigged but
are so PROUD that Passion won!

"As far as I'm concerned, these returns are as credibke as the online poll results on who won the debates. Moore and everyone
affiliated with this leftwing tantrum are on my never-spend-a-dime-for-anything-with-them-again list. Screw all of Hollywood.

I believe Mel's award is legit. Moore's award is not."

Who knows if it had anything to do with the win. We probably had similar threads for Faranheit voters.

Internet polls really only represent which side can mobilize their base more effectively.

Anyway, did you catch this pic from the thread you posted?
