Need help for university paper! |
|
Hey all, hope some of you can help or give some opinions... here is the question I chose:
2) President Bush said: "... I've been talking to Vicente Fox, the new president of Mexico... I know him... to have gas and oil sent to U.S.... so we'll not depend on foreign oil..." Comment on US dependence on foreign oil and gas reserves, and its implications for world security. Use hegemonic stability or security community scenario to answer this question.

1. What class is this for? |
|
Interesting... Most of our oil comes from Canada. I would rather write about the huge economic and environmental positives available through retrofitting for efficiency, developing wind and solar and hydrogen, and the hypercar. Seriously, is this for a University level class?

4. need more info about your angle. |
|
I'd happen to mention that we currently EXPORT most of the oil we pump out of the North Slope. I'm assuming you're somehow discussing ANWR and autarky or our ambitions in the middle east. Either way, that little fact is damning.

I'm going to try and show how the U.S. performs in the international community in order to maintain its hegemonic dominance.
Ie - Venezuela... don't know if I should relate to Iraq depending on my prof's personal views... Oil.
I'm going to try and find some hard stats and facts about how much cash the U.S. is making off oil in Iraq; if any.

7. ah, no need to even go to Iraq. |
|
Everything we've done up to Iraq shows we're hellbent on hegemony and can't do it without oil. We were a hegemon before Iraq. Getting into Iraq will bog your article down or make it convoluted. Remind the reader of the bigger picture. Iraq is just a rung on a ladder.
