randy johnson a big hit in NY
If today's actions are any indication, Randy Johnson has a lot to learn about dealing with the New York media.

The Yankees' newest acquistion engaged in a heated exchange and shoving match with a CBS 2 cameraman Monday on Manhattan's Madison Avenue.

"C'mon man, I'm just taking a picture," the cameraman pleaded as the security guard attempted to intervene. "No pictures," he warned him.

As the tape continued to roll, Johnson became more agitated. He appeared to shove the cameraman while brushing past him and grumbling "Get out my face!"

"C'mon Randy, I'm just taking a picture!" the photographer repeated.

"Don't get in my face, and don't talk back to me!" Johnson scolded as he continued to try to block the lens.

1. Well, he is kind of ugly.
I can see why he wouldn't want his picture taken.

2. "...don't talk back to me!" ? Welcome to NYC, buddy
and start smiling, unless you like the idea of being egged on the way to your limo... New York sports fans won't put up with that kind of attitude, young man. Not when we have to spend the kind of money Steinbrenner makes us pay to watch you boys play...

7. yeah he's good
but it's a different league, now with different players. Mostly I just hate seeing the Yankees buy all these great players. I hope he stiffs.

5. fast forward one year....
george steinbrenner, after spending 207 million dollars to buy another world championship, bought the entire boston red sox team and moved them to new york. as he watched them pop the champagne one more year he lamented, "if you cann't beat them, buy them!"

george was still in a drunken stupor after watching his prized offseason acquistion, randy johnson break his pitching hand earlier in the season trying to punch out mike lupica.

11. Oh, he's going to love New York
A word of advice to the "big unit": these east coast media types play hardball. They are a lot tougher than the softball sportswriters in Seattle and Phoenix.
