2. There's such a huge waiting list for them though.

4. I know that's why I think I'm going to get on one soon.
I am planning on driving my van until the wheels fall off and the body rusts out and it won't go another inch (it's paid for) so that'll be another few years.

Maybe by then they'll have a completely alternately fueled car? Nahhhh. Not with booosh in office.

13. Go with the TDI....
It is mechanically simpler than the Prius and may not have a wait list. You can run the TDI on biodiesel.

5. Agreed. . . I remember when Japanese automakers tried to make
cars that looked European, now it's exactly the opposite apparently.

6. It's not THAT Asian looking...
it's just more rounded than previous Jetta's.

9. They're all just starting to look the same
like ET Awful said. Rounded, higher and smaller windows, raised trunks. If I were shopping for a car today, styling-wise the Jetta's not much different than any of the Japanese Big 3.

Note: I'm a VW fan. Except for the early-90s when you couldn't tell the difference between a Jetta and a Dodge Horizon.

18. I disagree....
It does look like a cross between the Corolla and Civic. I don't like it one bit.

10. When i was looking for cars this summer i test drove a Jetta
this one looks like it has much more interior room, thats exactly what kept me from buying the 04 Jetta, no rear seat room. It looks like VW is trying to change the demographic on this one from "I just got out of college and this is my first new car" to "i had a beetle but then i got married and had kids." i imagine the msrp has gone up.
