1. I think this place sounds promising

I think they are trying to act as the hub of our movement. We gotta start somewhere...

The corporate media, Ronald Raegan, GHW Bush, GW Bush, Fox news, Free Republic, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Wiener, Sean Hannity, Bill O'reilly, fundamental christianity, wedge issues, stacked supreme court, fraudulent elections happened...add on if you want.

2. We need something
Like Thomas Jefferson said, a revolution once in awhile isn't so bad, or words to that effect.

6. I honestly haven't felt like an American for about 5 years.
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 08:49 PM by SmileyBoy
Since the 2000 fuck-up, I've felt a lot more like a Canadian than an American (I've spent a lot of time in Canada, so I know what I'm talking about). I see these idiots on TV preaching religious and political intolerance, and I see all the people shopping at Wal-Mart, and all the people watching FOX News, and all the people ridiculing other countries and the UN, and I see all the people with a rod up their ass when it comes to controversial TV, and it makes me think that these are actually the real Americans, and that I'm not one of them.

If these are Americans, then I obviously must not be an American. I must be a misplaced Canadian who was born on US soil.

Whenever I go to Winnipeg or Toronto or Calgary, I feel like I'm home.

9. Isn't that so sad?
We ARE American, yet feel like visitors in our own country. Who screwed up the value system so much? Are other Americans so selfish, greedy and stingy? How did this happen? Are they living in a fantasy world or are we? I'm depressed as hell.

10. Exactly. All I feel is that I was born on US soil, and nothing more.
With all the shit that has gone on, I feel like a foreigner in my own land.

And America was so filled with promise? There wasn't anything an American couldn't withstand. Jefferson, Franklin, FDR--WTF happened?

11. Well, that works most of the time....
or activities like that...going to the show, reading, watching movies on tv; but, I always come back to the fact that 50 per cent of America totally disagrees with justice, compassion, tolerance. I'm still depressed.

18. Well, I honestly don't think it's 51 per cent.
I have the feeling that most folks would agree with us if the issues were framed in a fair way--not fudged or stuck on wedge issues. What bothers me is how far down will we go before these idiots realize how they've been had. Lied to. Used. Manipulated.

I'm feeling hopeless. Hopeless about the very things you mentioned. I am usually more "steely", but I'm a mushpot today. Hopeless and pitiful. I'm starting to make myself sick with self-pity!!!

17. The pendulum swings, and began swinging to the left last spring!
It continues to swing. It feels like the revbolution began when we lost the election. It was a wake up call to everyone.
I am convinced the right shoot their own feet, even as we speak.
Their arrogence is their own unraveling.
The damage done is tragic, but the rise of the Left is awesome!

22. I felt a little uplifted yesterday when I saw a bunch of bumper
stickers - all for Kerry/Edwards while driving through Phila. And I saw a few more this morning on the way to work. What was nice about it was that it was unexpected, they all appeared new, and I didn't see any for *.

It actually picked me up (didn't even realize how down I was), and made me think that I should get one for the benefits of the rest of the Dem clan.

38. I would help, but I don't recognize it either
Unfortunately, I don't see any way of wresting the self-destructiveness from the average person. They won't listen to reason to such an extent that they literally will deny things thet they know they are seeing. I am afraid that the present course will continue to get worse and this country will continue towards imperialism until it is forced to change by the rest of the world.
